PegnitzProteomic identification of membrane proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Membrane proteins of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) are important virulence factors that participate in multiple cellular processes during the course of infection. In the present study, we performed a systematic proteomic analysis of membrane proteins from the highly virulent Mtb strain H37Rv using a combination of a membrane protein fractionation procedure and a 2D-DIGE based differential proteomic strategy. In total, 3145 proteins were detected in this study. Of these, 996 proteins were identified as membrane proteins, including both integral and peripheral membrane proteins. This study represents the first high-throughput membrane protein identification in Mtb.
Chinese students are being forced to burn their degree certificates as part of a government crackdown on campus activism.
While many young Chinese have chosen to skip university to work and better their lives, there are still plenty of students, including university students, taking full time degrees.
But now the authorities are cracking down on perceived 'left-wing' activism on Chinese campuses, and they have decided that the easiest way to stamp out activism is to have students burn their papers.
In footage shared on the messaging platform WeChat, a group of students are seen to be told to go to a designated area, and given a piece of paper to burn.
In the clip, a young man with a scar on his face is seen holding his certificate, as another student holds a pair of tongs.
